The Honda P-NUT

Just when you thought that Honda couldn't make a smaller vehicle, they introduce the Honda P-NUT. This compact vehicle is not only small; it packs an edgy attitude as well. The only reason you haven't seen an ad for it is the fact that it is still a concept? but definitely one worth knowing about.

Developed by The Advanced Design Studio of Honda F&D in Las Angeles, California with a hyper-angular three-seat design, the P-NUT offers much-needed time-, fuel- and space- efficiency in urban areas. So yes, the acronym connotes "small". But ultimately, it translates into Personal-Neo Urban Transport.

Originally, the P-NUT was unveiled at the L.A. Auto Show back in 2009. While it remains a concept to this day, it's important to understand exactly what it's capable of. Designed to be time-, fuel-, and space-efficient in urban areas, the Honda P-NUT has a hyper-angular three-seat design that can be powered by a conventional gas engine, a hybrid engine, or a full electric powertrain.

The Honda P-NUT measures a mere 11.2'L x 5.7'W x 4.6'H. Thus, to allow for enough room in the front of the cabin, the concepts keeps the engine in the rear. The driver sits in the center-front of the concept with a great view through a seriously raked front windshield. And, the two passengers are situated in the back. If additional cargo space can be created simply by folding the rear seats.

While the rear-side of the Honda P-NUT has a "boxiness" akin to the Element, the front is like nothing you've ever seen before. Futuristic, flowing lines are created by a standout one-piece combination windshield/roof. The windshield, which extends almost to the floor of the car (broken only by an oversized Honda logo) also serves as a head-up display (HUD) for the navigation system and reversing camera.

Sounds like a revolutionary vehicle and if you're wondering when the P-NUT will hit the streets, you're not alone. Honda has not released a date when the P-NUT will be available to the public, but you can find all the information at Diamond Honda of Puente Hills - 17525 E. Gale Ave. City of Industry, CA 91748.
