As you may have heard, the IIHS recently added a new component to their vehicle testing, making it harder than ever to earn a perfect score. All vehicles must now pass a roof strength test, in addition to the previously instituted frontal offset-, side impact-, and rear crash tests. The stringent addition didn't catch the 2011 Honda Odyssey off guard, though. Quite the opposite... It earned perfect "Good ratings across the board.

Still Exporting Honda Cars From Japan

Honda CFO Yoichi Hojo stated he doesn't see vehicle exports from Japan 'falling' anytime in the near future, despite rumors to the fact, and that the yen is at a 15-year high against the American dollar.

"Our export models are the CR-V and hybrids, but the CR-V is selling well in the US and production of the model is at full capacity (in the US), so we have no choice but to export from Japan," Hojo said.

As production volume of hybrid vehicles is not very big (around 200,000 hybrids annually) it is more efficient to produce them…

Honda Accord A Family Favorite

Honda's Accord sedan has been recommended by Consumer Reports as one of the best family vehicles for 2010. 2011 looks to continue this tradition, with a newly revised interior and exterior, along with improved crash test ratings by the IIHS. The 2011 Accord also receives better gas mileage than previous models - 23 miles per gallon city, and 34 mpg on the highway. That's with its 4 cylinder, 177-horsepower engine.

The Toyota Camry, has battled Accord for top sales over the years. In 2010, the Camry beat out Accord to claim the top-selling-car spot, but Camry sales declined last…

Honda CR-Z Gas Version Planned

Rumor from Inside Line is that Honda may offer a gas option for their CR-Z Hybrid. You see, Honda may "offer a turbocharged engine option in late 2011 in its CR-Z hybrid coupe. The engine, a forced-induction 1.6-liter four-cylinder, may be offered in two variants, including a 200-horsepower edition that could be earmarked for the new CR-Z Type R."

With a much larger engine, pumping out 48 to 88 more horsepower than the hybrid, Left Lane news predicts the "future version of the hatchback may put a greater emphasis on all-out performance."

According to the EPA, a hybrid CR-Z receives 35/39 mpg city/highway with the automatic transmission, and 31/37 mpg city/highway with the manual. This makes the CR-Z is one of the most fuel efficient vehicles on the market.

If Honda adds a gasoline version, these averages will obviously go down. But it would carter to a different market - those looking for high performance Japanese cars. Honda hasn't released any information on fuel economy ratings - (The foreign automaker hasn't even confirmed these speculations yet) - but don't be surprised if we see this vehicle go into production soon.

Honda might also impress the auto industry with an even beefier hybrid 2012 CR-Z. We'll have to wait until next year for more news on that.

To find out all the latest news on the CR-Z make sure to visit Diamond Honda of Puente Hills - 17525 E. Gale Ave. City of Industry, CA 91748.

Honda has been awarded the Greenest Automobile award not once, not twice, not even three times. The Japanese auto maker was the lucky recipient of this green award Five Years in a row. The award was given thanks to the company's stride to lower greenhouse emissions and minimize smog output.
